Our Story

A mutual friend introduced Adam and I at a birthday party. She was convinced that we would get along famously because we both didn't (and still don't) drink coffee. The introduction led to our first date in December 2003. I don't like to give Adam a big head, but by the end of the evening I knew that he was the man I was supposed to marry. Luckily, my inclination was right and we married February 18, 2006. Since then we have created many fond memories traveling, snowboarding, and just hanging out together. Our newest and favorite past time is our son Declan, the reason for this blog!

Below are a few highlights of our life together, before our little addition...

February 18, 2006
Our blissful wedding day. We married at The Immaculate Conception Church in Old Town San Diego and celebrated with a reception at the Bahia Hotel on Mission Bay.

Our honeymoon in Bora Bora was incredible. Adam did all of the planning and deserves full credit!

The first time we went snowboarding together, I kicked Adam's butt and earned the title "Goddess of Snowboarding". He's faster than me now, although I'm not too far behind. It is one of our favorite ways to spend time together. In fact, Adam proposed to me on a snowboarding trip to Mammoth on New Year's Eve 2005.

To say that Adam is a HUGE Charger fan is an understatement. On Sundays from September to (hopefully) January I share my husband with his beloved Chargers! I already see signs of Declan following in his Dad's footsteps. He certainly has the yelling part down!

Over the years we've managed some pretty cool trips together!

We actually do work in between all of our playing! Adam works at a company called Votec in software. Prior to Declan's birth I worked as a Marketing Manager for Brookfield Homes. Coordinating model homes, working with interior designers, architects, and ad agencies, I absolutely loved my job. But, when Declan was born we decided to make a change. The long hours and long commute wouldn't allow me to be the kind of mom I wanted to be. It was the best and hardest decision I ever made.

Which brings me to the end of our story, and to the beginning of our blog!
Adam and I found out we were pregnant with Declan on July 20, 2008.  What followed was a very easy pregnancy.
On March 26, 2009 Declan John arrived!
On March 28, 2009 I started this blog to document the new chapter of our lives.
What a great journey it has been so far!
On August 14, 2010 we found out the good news that we were pregnant again!
On April 18, 2011 Alexandra Elizabeth joined the crew.
Life just keeps getting better and better!
We went back and forth for a long time on whether to go for number three. In my heart I knew we'd do it. It always felt like there should be one more little person in our home. We decided to give it a try and were overwhelmed with joy when we found out on December 4th, 2013 that there would be one more Herkert. Since we had a boy and a girl we decided not to find out the sex during the pregnancy. During most of the pregnancy I had a strong feeling a little boy would be completing our family. On August 8th, 2014  Nathaniel David (right on his due date) confirmed my suspicions when I met him for the first time. And now we are a family of five enjoying the crazy ride of parenthood!
