7/52 {bedtime}

This is a slow going project this year for sure. I'm hoping to have more as I put together a portfolio of 150 images for submission to a professional photography forum. My goal was to submit before August. Now I'm hoping before the end of the year. :)

The epitome of this girl around 7:30pm :)

Oh Baby! Week 30

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 30 weeks- Helllloooo 10 week count down! I've been waiting for you!
Size of Baby: Baby's about 15.7 inches long now and weighs almost 3 pounds (about the size of a large cabbage).
Total Weight Gain: 20.5 lbs
Maternity Clothes: You betcha. I'm starting to wear Adam's old shirts to the gym. Hot.
Movement: Still feeling lots of kicks and punches!
Sleep: Okay this week. Lately I'm not tired when I should be - which leads to less sleep at night and more crankiness during the day. Not a good cycle that needs to break!
Food Cravings: I might have made apple crisp last weekend and I might have devoured it way too fast.
What I Miss: Patience and motivation.
Symptoms: The ever expanding belly. Nothing really new here. Oh yay, kind of emotional this week too. Lucky Adam :)
Memorable Moments: We had kind of a low key week. But on Memorial Day we just happened to be sitting next to an OBGYN at the beach. She sparked up some interesting conversation by guessing my exact week in pregnancy. Kind of funny. Also this week we had a good doctor's appointment. Technically I am supposed to start going every two weeks, but upon my request she agreed that I can wait one more month before beginning that - just to keep things simpler around here. Also, I scheduled a couple of days this week with some fun outings - just the kids and I.  A little QT before a busy summer schedule. A post on this to come.
What I'm Looking Forward To: Celebrating Adam's birthday tomorrow and Mimi arrives at the end of next week.

a little r and r

We had one plan over the entire Memorial Day weekend, and even that ended up being canceled. Three days with absolutely nothing to do. Quite a bit different than my non pregnant self, my pregnant self thinks this was glorious. Usually I like to have a least a couple of things going on over holiday weekends, but was more than happy to welcome the nothingness over the weekend this time around. The further I get into this pregnancy, the lazier I get. So we soaked it up. We slept in, ate out, padded around the house in our comfy clothes, played with the kids. I wish I could do it all again.

The best part of the weekend, ironically was the end. Over Labor Day and Memoiral Day weekends, our HOA hires a band to play at the park and hosts a neighborhood block party. Out of the three we've been to, this was by far the best one. Everyone seemed to be in the par-tay mood. The band was supposed to play from 2-5. They played until 6. Adam and I sat, ate, and drank with some of our neighbors and met new ones while the kids literally ran around for four hours. Every few minutes Adam and I would confirm a "visual" and that was the extent of our contact with the kiddos. Except when they came and asked for money for the lemonade stand of course. :) Such a fun afternoon. I can't even tell you how exhausted the kids were when we headed home. Talk about expending some serious energy.

I was actually pretty bad about getting pictures. From my beach chair I would see the kids across the park, and think - oh what a cute picture! By the time I got myself over to wherever they were the moment was gone. I was trying to capture Declan and this group of about 6 boys who were riding their scooters around the circle. It reminded me of a scene straight out of the 60s or something. Instead I caught Declan and Carvers  back sides. :)
The band, Hall Pass was the same band from previous 3 day weekend block parties. They are awesome - playing classic rock cover songs like Journey and Neil Diamond. Oh yes, at one point a bunch of groupie moms (me not included) was up there dancing to Sweet Caroline.
We may have visited the lemonade stand more than once :)
New friends, cookies, and hand holding. Summer love.
You can't go wrong with a slip and slide and water guns.
Lexi and Emma were BFFs all afternoon. Seriously, I think they held hands 90% of the time. It was so sad after the party, Lexi kept saying how much she missed Emma and continually went to Declan's window looking out at the park, trying to find her.

Some very shaky videos from the day -

Caught the tail end of these two shaking their booties.

This is pretty much what was happening for four hours straight.

Not expecting to stay a the park as long as we did, we actually had gone to the beach earlier in the day for a couple of hours. Because, why not when the weather is perfect and you have nothing to do? Plus, the beach is way more fun with Daddy!

The only other outing over the long weekend was a few hours at Legoland. I had an extra pass we had planned to use next weekend with Adam, but something came up and it is going to expire - so it was Memorial Day weekend or bust. We braved the crowds. It was doable, but we definitely didn't stay very long.
We did check out the Lego movie set - something I've been wanting to do for awhile, but never made our way over there. Ironically we haven't seen the movie yet - this will probably mean more to the kids once we do.

The boys building a castle for their princess.

Trying anew adventure ride - which totally freaked out the kids (that is Daddy under that Mummy).

Some park play and we're out!

And that about wraps up anything bloggable from our 3-day weekend. The next 3-day weekend, we'll be a family of five!

"Grandpa with the Fireworks"

Last week we enjoyed a visit from "Grandpa with the Fireworks". Sometimes Adam and I refer to his dad as "Grandpa with the trains" and my dad as "Grandpa with the fireworks" so the kids know which Grandpa we're talking about.  Well it cracked me up because the entire time grandpa was here, Lexi called him "Grandpas with the fireworks". She would say "grandpa with the fireworks, watch me! Grandpa with the fireworks, come play with me, etc. I kept waiting for her to catch on that it was okay to simply call him grandpa but that was not happening! Anyway, we enjoyed spending mid-week with him - a perfect amount of relaxing around the house and a couple adventures sprinkled in there too.

He came bearing gifts for everyone...
including me! I sent him a picture of a cool crate-airplane I was hoping he could replicate for me as a newborn prop. He far exceeded my hopes when he brought me this! I can't wait to paint it and use it soon!
After Declan showed Granpda (with the fireworks) his new bike riding skills and Lexi finished her nap, We headed to the Legoland Aquarium for a late afternoon visit before a fun dinner out at Rubys. Declan was totally into the new jellyfish exhibit -

Lexi was more interested in dancing to the techno music they had playing -

Checking out all of the nooks and crannies!

The next morning we decided to head down to La Jolla Cove for some seal spotting. Cloudy and overcast, it was the perfect way to spend the morning. We hadn't been here for years, so it was especially fun and exciting for Declan and I. I'm pretty sure it was Lexi's first time visiting the Cove. Unfortunately she was as excited about our new spot, the loud seals had her pretty spooked and she spent most of the morning on my hip. :)
 An up close view!
Saying hello to our wet friend :)

This wave led to an outfit change for Mr D

Checking out the tide pools with Grandpa.

This might be a forced smile

 What a view!

Thank you for a wonderful visit Grandpa...with the fireworks!! We love you!
